Maher makes most of Kooringal online buy

It’s easy to see why top trainer Ciaron Maher is a big fan of the Kooringal Stud digital online yearling sale.

Maher and his co-trainer David Eustace made their presence felt at last year’s inaugural online auction with two purchases, including the sale-topping Duporth colt.

The $30,000 youngster now named Jamarra is already shaping up as a bargain buy for the leading stable.

Jamarra (pictured) won stylishly at his second start at Bendigo in mid December before running a brave second in a $130,000 race at Caulfield on Boxing Day.

Maher was so impressed that he visited Kooringal Stud last month to inspect the yearlings to be offered at the upcoming Inglis Digital online sale.

“It’s terrific to see graduates from our first online sale achieving early success,” Kooringal Stud’s Angus Lamont said.

“Winners are always the best advertisement and Jamarra has been quick to make an impression.”

Inglis Digital will host the online sale from February 18.

On the same day Kooringal will hold a parade of the yearlings starting at 11am.

All stud clients and prospective buyers are invited to attend the parade. Please RSVP via email ([email protected]).

Kooringal’s dual Group 1 winner Prized Icon will be represented in the online auction by nine from his first crop of foals.

There will be 12 lots on offer, including yearlings by Smart Missile, Duporth and Squamosa.

February will be a busy month for Kooringal, which also has a strong draft at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale from February 6 to 8.

Kooringal will sell six Prized Icon yearlings at the Riverside complex at Warwick Farm.

Among the youngsters is Lot 79, who is a half brother to Jamarra.

The bay colt is from Kooringal’s successful Snitzel mare Miss Cacciatore.

Miss Cacciatore is also the dam of the stakesplaced Casa De Lago – a five-time winner of more than $160,000 in prizemoney – and the promising Hong Kong miler Run The Table.

Newgate Farm, Redbank North/Huntsworth Stud and Edinglassie Stud will also have progeny of the $2.1 million earner Prized Icon on the market at the Classic sale.
