Kooringal Stud’s online yearling graduates continue to write their own success stories.
With the oldest products still only three-year-olds, Kooringal has quickly made its mark in the relatively new marketplace.
And the next chapter is ready to be penned, with Kooringal compiling an impressive draft for the Inglis digital platform from March 17 to 22.
“We will have up to 15 yearlings in the late March sale and they are all well grown, quality individuals,” Kooringal’s Angus Lamont said.
Dual Group 1 winner Prized Icon will be heavily represented in the draft as his first crop of two-year-olds continue to impress trainers.
“We are still getting very good reports about the Prized Icons and should see a number more making their debut in the coming months,” Angus said.
Youngsters by the proven stallions Al Maher and Spieth – as well as the brilliant juvenile Tassort – will also be seen in the line-up.
Angus is delighted with what Kooringal has achieved with its online presence in such a short time.
“From our initial online sale (in late 2020) there have been 13 starters so far, 7 winners and 5 place getters to date, which is pretty extraordinary considering they haven’t even finished their 3yo season” he said.
“The purchase price of all yearlings in the inaugural crop has been well exceeded by prizemoney from the starters to date … a figure that will only continue to rise as they mature and get more runs under their belt.
“It’s a great result for the purchasers and should ensure a number of repeat buyers realising the value and quality they will get with a Kooringal yearling.”
Among the winners is the smart juvenile Jamarra, who has been placed behind the Group 1 performers Jacquinot and Lofty Strike at Caulfield and Flemington.
The $30,000 purchase has earned more than $120,000 in prizemoney with two wins and four placings from 10 appearances for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
Another Kooringal online graduate is the promising Lady Kah.
Co-trainers Emma and Lucy Longmire produced Lady Kah for consecutive wins at her home track at Goulburn in October, earning $48,550 in the process.
“Lady Kah has already returned five times her purchase price in her first two starts with very a exciting future ahead,” Angus said.
Jamarra and Lady Kah are both by former Kooringal-based sire Duporth.
Fine Example added to Kooringal’s winners from its digital offering with a solid victory at Taree early in March.
The daughter of Magic Albert broke through over 1600 metres at only her fourth outing.
Fine Example is bred to stay with her dam Esempio a winner up to 2100 metres.
There is a busy time ahead for the Kooringal team, which is likely to have nine yearlings on offer at the HTBA Yearling Sale in Sydney on April 23. This draft will be featured in the April newsletter.
The Lamont family is looking forward to building on its results from the Gold Coast Magic Millions sale where the Prized Icon progeny sold to $80,000.
