Open invitation to Kooringal’s parade

You have heard the hype and now you can see for yourself why there has been so much talk about Kooringal Stud leading up to the 2023 breeding season.

Kooringal’s star-studded list of sires will be on show at the Stallion Parade and Open Day on Sunday, August 27.

“The excitement has continued to build since adding Merchant Navy and Finance Tycoon to our roster and we are expecting a big turnout for our open day,” Kooringal Stud’s Angus Lamont said.

“This is a great opportunity to get a first-hand look at our outstanding stallions and to also have a tour of our first-class facilities.”

Headlining the stallion parade is the dual Group 1 winner Merchant Navy (pictured), who won at the highest level in both Australia and the United Kingdom.

Merchant Navy emphasised his stud credentials when his daughter Royal Merchant claimed the Group 1 Goodwood Hcp at Morphettville shortly after he had been secured by Kooringal.

The Fastnet Rock stallion’s second crop was highlighted by the precocious stakes-winning juvenile Steel City.

“You have to remember his oldest progeny has just turned four and he has already shown he can get top class sprinters,” Angus said.

“He is by a champion sire and from a quality black type family, so he has the breeding to back his talent on the track.”

Metropolitan winners Merchant Boss and Venetian Blue kept Merchant Navy in the spotlight during July.

Finance Tycoon arrived at Kooringal after being well received in his fist season at stud in Victoria.

The son of Written Tycoon was a speed machine, leading throughout in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington and the Group 3 Zeditave Stakes at Caulfield.

“There is so much to like about Finance Tycoon and he is creating a lot of interest with broodmare owners,” Angus said.

Another two-time Group 1 winner Prized Icon, Snitzel’s son Sandbar and the proven The Brothers War will also feature in the stallion parade.

“The Kooringal team is looking forward to showing everyone what we have on offer in 2023,” Angus said.

Kooringal extends an open invitation to its open day.

Light refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the parade, with RSVPs essential to [email protected]
