High expectations were exceeded when Kooringal Stud’s emerging sire prospects Sandbar and Last Kingdom became first-time dads in August.
Snitzel stallion Sandbar and Frankel’s son Last Kingdom have both made big impressions with the quality of their initial foals.
Winning mare Give Val A Ring (by Sebring) gave Kooringal plenty to celebrate when she foaled Sandbar’s bay filly (pictured) on August 5.
Last Kingdom joined the ranks of fatherhood with Imperial Crown (by Deep Impact) foaling a bay colt on August 27.
“It’s been a memorable month with Sandbar and Last Kingdom’s first foals making their way into the world,” Kooringal’s Angus Lamont said.
“The Sandbars are typical Snitzels … chunky and muscly.
“And they keep improving all the time. I am really impressed with them.
“The Last Kingdoms are very similar in looks and types – he is certainly leaving his mark on his foals.”
Give Val A Ring’s daughter is extremely well related.
Her second dam Deer Valley (by Lonhro) won five races, including the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes.
Give Val A Ring’s third dam Ada Slew was a half-sister to one of Australia’s most versatile performers Kingston Town, whose 30 wins were highlighted by three Cox Plate triumphs.
Imperial Crown’s colt also has considerable depth in his pedigree.
His second dam is by the champion sire Storm Cat and the family is littered with international black type winners.
Sandbar, a dual Group winning three-quarter brother to the Golden Slipper hero Farnan, is standing this season at a fee of $8800 (inc GST).
Last Kingdom was a Group 3 winner in France and tallied five victories to 1800 metres.
Bringing the bloodlines of the world’s best Frankel to Australia, Last Kingdom stands his second season for $6600 (inc GST).
The highly popular Prized Icon (fee of $11,000 inc GST) and the consistent winner-producer The Brothers War (fee on application) complement Kooringal’s stallion roster for 2022.
